How the VI Peel works
A chemical peel applies a controlled blend of acids to the skin to remove damaged outer layers and trigger accelerated cell turnover. The VI Peel is a medium-depth peel that combines trichloroacetic acid (TCA), salicylic acid, phenol, retinoic acid, and vitamin C with minerals in a proprietary formula. The TCA and retinoic acid drive exfoliation and collagen stimulation, salicylic acid clears pores, phenol provides gentle numbing and antibacterial action, and vitamin C brightens.
Over the week that follows, pigmented, sun-damaged surface cells lift away and are replaced by fresh, evenly toned skin. Beneath the surface, collagen production increases, so texture and fine lines continue to improve for weeks after the visible peeling ends.
What the VI Peel treats
- Sun damage and age spots: a particular concern in Arizona’s intense year-round UV.
- Melasma and hormonal pigmentation: the Precision Plus formula is specifically designed for stubborn discoloration.
- Acne and acne marks: the Purify formula clears breakouts and the red or brown spots they leave behind.
- Fine lines and rough texture: smoother, softer skin with refined pores.
- Dullness: the brightening effect is often visible after a single peel.
What to expect at your appointment
- Consultation. Jessica evaluates your skin, reviews medications (isotretinoin, recent retinoid use and certain antibiotics affect timing) and selects the right VI Peel formula.
- Application. The skin is cleansed and degreased, then the peel is applied in layers. You will feel tingling for a few minutes before the built-in numbing agent takes effect. The whole appointment takes about 30 minutes.
- Leave on. The peel stays on for four hours, then you wash it off at home. You will leave with a post-peel kit containing towelettes, moisturizer and sunscreen, plus written instructions.
- Peeling days 3–7. Skin tightens, darkens slightly and then flakes or sheets, starting around the mouth. Use only the products in your kit, moisturize often, and never pull loose skin.
- Reveal. By day seven, fresh skin has emerged. Resume your normal routine gradually and continue daily SPF.
VI Peel vs. microneedling
Both improve texture and stimulate collagen. The VI Peel is the stronger choice for pigmentation, sun spots, melasma and active acne, while SkinPen microneedling excels at acne scarring, pore size and firmness. For patients with both concerns, alternating the two treatments every four weeks is a highly effective, laser-free plan that is safe for every skin tone.
Skin health as a foundation
At Anato Aesthetics we view skin quality as the canvas for everything else. A brighter, more even complexion makes results from neurotoxins, filler and Sculptra look their best, and regular peels are one of the simplest ways to keep Arizona sun damage in check. Ask about pairing peels with medical-grade home care, which Skinvestment members receive at 15% off.
