Why we added XERF

Anato means structure, and until now our tools for structure were injectable: filler and Sculptra to restore volume that has been lost. XERF fills the gap for patients whose concern is not volume but laxity, the gradual loosening of skin along the jawline, under the chin and on the neck that no injectable fully addresses. It is the first energy device we have brought into the practice because it works at the depth where structure actually sits, and it does so without needles or downtime.

How XERF works

Radiofrequency energy heats tissue, and controlled heating does two things: it causes existing collagen fibers to contract immediately, and it triggers a healing response that builds new collagen and elastin over the following months. Most radiofrequency devices deliver a single frequency and therefore reach a single depth. XERF delivers two frequencies simultaneously.

  • 6.78 MHz targets the dermis, the skin’s middle layer, to firm and refine the surface.
  • 2 MHz penetrates to the level of the SMAS, the fibrous layer that surgeons tighten during a facelift, to lift from the foundation.

Treating both layers in one pass produces a more complete tightening than surface-only devices, while continuous motion of the handpiece keeps the treatment comfortable and eliminates the need for numbing.

What to expect at your XERF appointment

  1. Consultation. Jessica assesses skin laxity, volume and structure, confirms XERF is the right tool, and maps the treatment areas. You will have exact pricing before treatment.
  2. Preparation. Skin is cleansed and a conductive gel is applied. No numbing is needed.
  3. Treatment. The handpiece glides over each area in continuous passes while the device monitors skin temperature. You will feel deep, building warmth. A full face takes about 30 minutes; face and neck about 45 to 60.
  4. Aftercare. None required beyond sunscreen. Makeup and exercise are fine the same day.
  5. Follow-up. We photograph before and after and review results at three months to decide on additional sessions or maintenance.

XERF alongside injectables

XERF tightens; it does not add volume. How many XERF sessions do I need?
Many patients see a meaningful improvement after a single session. Those with more laxity, or who want a stronger result, benefit from a series of two or three sessions spaced about a month apart. Jessica will recommend a plan at your consultation.
Who is a good candidate for XERF?
XERF is ideal for patients with mild to moderate skin laxity on the face, jawline, neck or body who want firmer, lifted skin without surgery, needles or downtime. Because it uses radiofrequency rather than light, it is safe for all skin tones. It is not recommended during pregnancy or for patients with metal implants or pacemakers in the treatment area.
How is XERF different from Sculptra or filler?
Sculptra and filler add volume beneath the skin. XERF tightens and firms the skin itself and the deeper structural layer, without adding volume. For many patients the best result comes from combining XERF for lift with Sculptra or filler for restored volume.
